Full Skin Check

Head-to-Toe examination of moles and other lesions

What to Expect

Our full skin check is a detailed 15-minute appointment that includes a risk assessment and examination of all skin lesions from head to toe using a dermatoscope. Early detection is crucial for effective treatment of pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions.

Why get a Full Skin Check?

Moles are small, coloured spots on our skin. Most people have them and they are usually nothing to be worried about unless they change size, shape or colour. It’s important to check your skin for changes regularly as some moles can be a sign of a serious skin cancer called melanoma. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland with over 13,000 new cases diagnosed each year. If you have moles or any skin concerns and want peace of mind, we can offer a full skin check and arrange any further treatment or referral if necessary.

Who is it for?

Anyone can suffer with skin cancer, if you have noticed a mole you would like checked or would simply like peace of mind, book a full skin check. Certain groups are at a higher risk of developing skin cancer and would benefit most from a full skin check, including:

  • Individuals with fair skin and hair
  • Those who have experienced sunburn, particularly in childhood
  • People who have used sunbeds
  • People with numerous moles
  • Individuals with a personal or family history of skin cancer
  • People taking immunosuppressive medications

What happens after the assessment?

Your doctor will create a personalised plan depending on your assessment. This may include:

  • Self monitoring advice for skin changes
  • Routine follow up appointment (often 1-yearly is sufficient)
  • Referral to hospital dermatology or plastic surgery service for biopsy or removal of concerning lesion

What is the charge for this consultation?

A full skin check costs €130. Rescheduling or cancellation (full refund) is available up to 4 hours before your appointment time.
