Driving Licence Medical

We offer Group 1 and Group 2 Driving Licence Medical reports in association with the NDLS.

The medical report includes an eyesight check, a cardiovascular examination and a review of your medical history.

The following drivers require a driving licence medial report:

  • Applicants for a learner permit or driving licence in any of the C or D categories (bus and truck): C1, C, D1, D, C1E, CE, D1E or DE.
  • Applicants who suffer from certain medial conditions listed here.
  • Applicants aged 75 or over.
  • Applicants with a 101 notation code on their licence or permit.
  • Applicants who have ever been affected by alcohol dependency.
  • Applicants who have ever experienced epilepsy.
  • Applicants who are taking drugs or medication that could impact safe driving.

Who should have an eyesight report:

The following drivers require an eyesight report:

  • All drivers applying for their first learner permit.
  • All drivers applying to exchange their non-EU driving licence for an Irish driving licence.
  • All drivers who wish to remove the 01 notation from their driving licence.
