Antenatal Care
We provide antenatal care, also referred to as maternity care, for women under the combined antenatal care scheme. The Maternity and Infant Care scheme supports visits to our GPs and all the maternity hospitals. All women who are pregnant and ordinarily resident in Ireland is entitled to care under this scheme. Once approved by the HSE, women are entitled to free antenatal and postnatal care with the doctors in our surgery. You are not required to have a medical card to avail of this service.
During your pregnancy, one of our doctors will provide an initial examination, if possible before 12 weeks, and a further 5 examinations during the course of your pregnancy. These visits will be alternated with appointments at a maternity hospital. After birth, our doctors will provide developmental examinations for the baby at 2 weeks and again at 6 weeks of age.
